    Sous Chef (Evening Shift)

     

    The Rogue Valley Manor is Southern Oregon’s only Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) and is currently seeking an experienced Sous Chef.     The successful candidate will have the ability to operate effectively in a diverse environment while maintaining a positive, respectful, productive and compliant work environment in accordance with State and company policies and objectives.  Equally important is a passion for food with a creative palate, strong line-cooking skills, excellent leadership skills, a strong culinary background, and a solid track record.  Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, proper storage and handling procedures is required.

     

    Responsibilities will include creative menu and recipe development, and monitoring of systems to maintain daily operations. In the absence of the Chef, will assume responsibility for their respective Kitchen including delegating specific duties to staff members to ensure that all items needed for meals and/or events are ready at the time needed and adhere to our Dining Services policies and procedures.

    Qualifications

    • 3 – 5 years of cooking experience, preferably in a high production kitchen with heavy line experience.
    • A valid Food Handlers card is required and a ServSafe certificate is a plus.
    • Must understand roasting, sautéing, braising, and other advanced cooking techniques.
    • Prefer a current Oregon driver’s license to be insurable under Manor’s insurance carrier.
