  • Overview

    Capitol Lakes, a continuing-care retirement community in the heart of downtown Madison, has an immediate opening for a PRN-Nights Receptionist.  This position is primarily responsible for meeting and greeting visitors to Capitol Lakes and assisting employees and residents with their needs as they relate to the specific responsibilities below.


    Work Schedule:  PRN/On-Call.  Primarily covers 3rd Shift/Nights but may have an occasional need to cover 1st or 2nd shift


    • Helps provide security by screening all visitors, responding to alarms and notifying first responder of any concerns
    • Answers phone and provides information to caller or directs the call to the appropriate staff or resident; greets and assists visitors and guests
    • Receives packages and floral deliveries, records information and notifies staff or resident; prepares birthday cards to residents for administrative staff signatures.
    • Sends and receives faxed documents for residents and collects fees; makes copies for residents and guests and collects fees.
    • Provides clerical support for the monthly newsletter, Capitol Lakes Resident Association and Health Offices
    • Prepares daily posters of activities, special events, and announcements; posts activities, special events and announcements on the in-house TV channel
    • Receives and distributes public library books for resident Book Club and records information.
    • Distributes and receives keys for housekeeping and resident assistants.
    • Opens, sorts, and stamps incoming business mail for staff.
    • Receives prescriptions from pharmacies, notifies residents and records information; reservations for attendance at marketing events and records information.
    • Receives guest room reservations, records information, accepts payment and notifies housekeeping.
    • Accepts payment for Wellness Center guests and records information.
    • Provides meal tickets for employees and records information.
    • Receives calls from residents for emergency assistance, repairs, and transportation services.
    • Additional receptionist duties as assigned. 
    • To provide assistance, organization, planning and support as needed for the Department Director. May work on assignments that are sensitive and confidential in nature.


    • Experience in a receptionist role; 1 year of related experience strongly preferred. 
    • Knowledge of basic office equipment; basic typing, computer skills and organization skills required.
    • Prior experience in working with public or customer service role is strongly desired. 
    • Ability to read, speak, write, and follow oral and written directions.
