  • Overview

    Capitol Lakes has an immediate opening for a PRN Registered Dietitian who will be responsible for providing nutritional assessments, sets goals and plan of care for residents at the Health Center. Will provide medical nutritional therapy for residents at the Health Center and Clinic when referred by physician or nursing staff. Recommends dietary policies affecting plan of care, food production and food service in the Health Center. Establishes outcome measures in nutritional care in collaboration with other members of the health care team. May be a member of the staff or a consultant dietitian.


    Work Schedule:  PRN/As Needed


    • Participates as liaison between dietary and nursing services staff as part of the Health Center care team.
    • Responsible for initial, annual, and change in condition nutritional assessments.
    • Responsible for Medicare residents’ nutritional assessments.
    • Recommends dietary policies and procedures in conjunction with the Director of Dining Services, the Nutritional Services Manager and the Administrator of Health Services.
    • Visits residents to determine quality of meals served.
    • Audits and/or reviews quality assurance programs as established in the policies and procedures for nutritional services at the Health Center.
    • Reviews menus at the request of the Dining Services Director for diet compliance.          
    • Participates in resident care plan meetings. Attends Health Center and Dining Services department meetings and In-Services when available or appropriate.
    • Provides periodical In-services in nutrition to nursing and nutritional services staff.


    • Must have a license with the Wisconsin Board of Examiners of Licensed Dietitians
    • Job role requires a Bachelor's degree in dietetics from an accredited college or university and have a current registry number with Registered Dietetics Association
    • Requires a minimum of 1-2 years of RD experience in a hospital or long-term care setting
    • Must have a thorough knowledge of dietary management, menu planning, and diet therapy.
    • Must have good written and oral communication skills.
    • Courses in cost control, food management, personnel management and diet therapy encouraged.
