  • Overview

    Capitol Lakes has an immediate opening for a full-time Charge Nurse serving residents on the NOC shift.  The NOC Charge Nurse assures quality health and rehabilitation services are provided to assigned residents. Is responsible for participating in delivery of person-centered, individualized, clinically competent care. Assists in maintaining standards of care, evaluates the process of care, resident outcomes, and appropriate use of resources and personnel. Participates in coordination of health services with allied departments. Guides and monitors the care provided by Certified Nursing Assistants.


    Work Schedule:  10:00 p.m.-6:00 a.m. (NOC).  Days vary.  Must have flexibility to work every other weekend.



    • Assist in maintaining a physical, social, and psychological environment, which will be conducive to the best interest and welfare of the patients.
    • Set up and pass medications as needed, observing the rights of medication administration.
    • Maintain working knowledge of patient conditions at all times.
    • Review 24 hour reports and other pertinent nursing documentation from previous shifts.
    • Supervise the work of Certified Medication Aides and Certified Nursing Aides.
    • Maintain accurate and complete records of nursing observations and care.
    • Provide nursing care in accordance with physician orders and appropriate nursing techniques/procedures.
    • Recognize and interpret symptoms/change of condition and report patient's condition accurately.
    • Notify RCM, DNS, PCP and/or Administration of changes in patient condition or other job related issues.
    • Other duties as assigned.



    • Current license to practice as a RN in the state of Wisconsin
    • One year of experience long-term care experience preferred.  A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a Charge Nurse role strongly preferred.
    • Knowledge and ability to relate to rehabilitation and elderly residents
    • Effectively communicate with residents, families and Health Care Representatives
    • Ability to work and communicate effectively with others as well as function independently
    • Knowledge of and follow through with universal precautions
    • Maintains current CPR certification
