    This internship is an exciting opportunity for a current student or recent graduate to gain firsthand experience with a Human Resources team for a multi-state retirement living organization.This individual will be under limited supervision and will perform duties for the Human Resources Department involving independent judgment, initiative and tact. In addition, this individual work on assignments that are sensitive in nature and confidential.  Job responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following:


    • Assists with development of training and implementation material for talent acquisition system
    • Edits and proofreads job descriptions and analyses
    • Checks references of applicants after interview is complete
    • Responsible for filing paperwork
    • Completes or assists with major projects to keep the department in compliance with State and Federal laws and to keep department running efficiently
    • Transcribes and condenses data as well as preparing packets/booklets as necessary
    • Updates and duplicates personnel forms as necessary
    • Operates copy machine, fax machine, and other office equipment
    • Sends out rejection letters and postcards
    • Other duties as assigned by the VP of Human Resources and Human Resources staff members
    • The ideal candidate will possess an attention to detail and accuracy. Candidate should be interested in learning more about operations in a senior living environment. The Hours will be based on department need and availability of intern.  This position is temporary and nonexempt.


    • Answers telephones and responds to inquiries on job openings, applications, references, employment verifications, etc.
    • Provides assistance and information to employees on a regular basis via phone, memo, fax and e-mail.
    • Completes or assists with major projects to keep the department in compliance with State and Federal laws and to keep the department running efficiently.
    • Oversees all employee files and attendance records, ensuring updates are performed on a regular basis. May need to duplicate files as necessary.
    • Employee Party/Events: assists Human Resources Director in planning functions and events.
    • Compiles list for mandatory training such as orientation, hazard communication, safety, etc. Send monthly updates to departments.
    • Maintains tickler files on licenses and TB tests. Send monthly updates to departments.
    • Distributes personnel memos/notices to departments and post by all time clocks.
    • Copy and fax machine: Responsible for daily care.
    • Track and order supplies as needed.
    • Sends out rejection letters and emails on a weekly basis
    • Assists in completing paperwork for on-the-job injuries.
    • Checks references of applicants as needed.
    • Assists new employees in completing all necessary paperwork.



    • Recent Bachelor’s degree equivalent or currently in school to receive one. Human Resources or Communications degree preferred but not required. Classes in a related field preferred.
    • Must have experience in using MS Excel and Word.
    • Must have a basic understanding of administrative practices such as professional phone skills, knowledge of office equipment, etc.
    • Must be able to use good judgment and work independently towards goals.
    • Must be able to interact in a helpful and patient manner with fellow PRS employees.
