In total, Mirabella will be home to more than 370 residents who have access to the 20 bed Assisted Living suites should the need arise. As part of the continuum of care, Mirabella also provides a 21 bed Skilled Unit and a 20 bed Memory Care unit located on the second floor – both will serve the existing residents and the community at large. The 20 story property will be a true diamond in the city skyline complete with a state of the art fitness center, 3 penthouse dining venues, and a high end bistro on the main floor. Our menu items are made from a scratch kitchen with the highest standards of hospitality in mind. Our property is currently under construction with a scheduled opening date in the fall of 2020.

 

Mirabella at ASU is an affiliate of Pacific Retirement Services, which specializes in the operation of non-profit CCRCs and provides support services for all aspects of our communities, including Human Resources. As a Human Resources partner at Mirabella, you are part of a bigger Human Resources team that includes 12 different communities in 6 different states. 

 

About the Position:

Mirabella at ASU is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Nursing (DON) with outstanding people skills to join our leadership team and ensure our programs and initiatives are effective, efficient, and aligned for our new nonprofit retirement community.  The Director of Nursing is responsible for oversight and management of all health programs and services in the Skilled Nursing Facility.  This leader will also work with the Health Services Administrator in establishing policies and procedures in regard to health services.  

 

What You Will Do:

  • Responsible for the development of Skilled Nursing Facility and resident care policies.
  • Responsible for nursing services in the Skilled Nursing Facility.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of departmental manual (philosophy, objectives, procedures and job descriptions.
  • Responsible for staffing the Skilled Nursing Facility.
  • Determine staffing needs in conjunction with the Human Resources Director as needed.
  • Work with Resident Care Managers (RCM) in the areas of resident care planning and nursing actions.
  • Assure that health programs and services comply with federal and state regulations and guide corrective action when applicable.
  • Participates in staff evaluations and disciplinary reviews.
  • Assure quality resident care is maintained.
  • Work with Medical Director and/or appropriate physician in overall resident care.
  • Monitor drug distribution with the assistance of the consulting pharmacist.
  • Implement safe method of drug distribution in collaboration with consultant pharmacist.
  • Participate in Peer and other inter-disciplinary reviews.
  • Participate in the following committees: Infection Control, Pharmacy, Quality Assurance, Transfer, Safety and others as needed.
  • Assures Medical Record Audit program is in place and being adhered to assure accuracy and completeness.
  • Work with RCM and Social Services Director in assessment of health, psycho social, rehabilitation and environmental needs of residents.
  • Participate in conferences with staff, residents and responsible parties as dictated by State and Federal regulations as well as staff or resident concerns.
  • Identify and implement nursing service educational needs. Participate in continuing education classes.
  • Assure that prevention programs are in place such as Hepatitis B, CPR, PPD testing etc.
  • Responsible for coordination of all transfers.
  • Works with the Facility Services Director in monitoring the Skilled Nursing Facility housekeeping program.
  • Successfully complete every two years at least 30 continuing education hours pertinent to nursing administration in a nursing facility.
  • Perform other job duties as required or assigned.

About You:

  • This position requires a significant advanced knowledge, usually the result of a minimum of four (4) years of college with a B.S. degree in nursing and/or experience in the field, pertinent to long-term care, from an accredited college or university. 

  • Must possess a working knowledge of state Job and federal regulations regarding the operation of a health care facility as well as OSHA regulations.

  • Each calendar year must have taken a class documenting procedures for life threatening situations, including, but not limited to, CPR and the life-saving techniques for choking victims including abdominal thrust and chest thrust.

  • Must have current RN license in the state of Arizona (or compact license)

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in a DON role or similar nursing leadership experience (preferably a minimum of 5 years or more.)
  • Nursing experience in a long-term care facility and/or skilled nursing facility
