The Lead Building Engineer utilizes advanced skills to perform complex preventive maintenance and corrective repair of buildings, fire life safety systems and equipment.  The Lead Engineer monitors building system operations and performance.   Opportunities to utilize various trade skills such as plumbing, electrical, heating and cooling are plentiful with this role.   The ideal candidate will possess experience in a building engineer role similar experience. Previous experience in a senior-living environment/CCRC or similar area is a plus!  Successful candidates will have advanced knowledge of all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and company directives related to building operations and work safety.  Qualified candidates will have strong initiative and be resourceful, with demonstrated skills to oversee and perform major and minor building inspections and repairs including (but not limited to) general electrical, general plumbing, lighting, hardware, locks and safety systems.  



  • Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and minimum of four years experience in complete building operations. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • MEP trade experience or specialized training/certification in one or more of the following areas: lock smithing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC/mechanical and general building repair.
  • Universal CFC certification required. Additional certification in one or more of the following: HVAC, electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry or engine repair. Certifications/licenses as may be required by local or state jurisdictions.
  • Skills in operation, repair and maintenance of shop equipment and tools is necessary.
  • Knowledge of telephone, TV and computer systems in desired.
  • Knowledge of chemicals used in Maintenance departments.
  • Ability to read and understand label instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written communication.
