Overview

What you'll do:  This position is responsible for all Wellness-related programming and activities tailored to serve Rogue Valley Manor’s senior population as well as utilization of all recreational facilities (Fitness Centers, Pools, Hobby Shop, Wood Shop, Fiber Arts & Crafts Studio, and Art Studio). Develops, schedules, and conducts programs and activities in support of resident wellness and quality of life. Supervises Wellness staff. Develops and provides timely and accurate departmental records and reporting.

Rogue Valley Manor is Southern Oregon’s only Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), and the longest standing accredited CCRC on the West Coast. Its expansive campus sits atop Barneburg Hill and is home to nearly 1000 residents. Responsibilities

  • Develop, schedule and conduct programs in support of resident wellness and quality of life. Offerings should include a mix of program formats such as in-person, small group, and digital/on-line options. Familiarity with and affinity for working with senior populations essential.
  • Maintain the highest quality programming and remain abreast of industry trends to ensure current and future resident needs and satisfaction while working within staffing and budgetary constraints.
  • Supervise, schedule and train Wellness staff in all areas of the department.
  • Schedule and conduct personal trainings and classes for residents both on land and in the pool.
  • Conduct personalized fitness evaluations with new and existing residents in order to develop fitness and wellness plans and goals appropriate for their abilities.
  • Manage all Wellness and fitness areas, programs, and equipment to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
  • Responsible for maintaining documentation for all Wellness department activities including the development of reports on and measures of Wellness department activities and programs, their utilization and effectiveness.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and residents to ensure smooth operation of a variety of wellness-related groups (Lawn Bowling, Bocce, Badminton, Water Volley Ball, etc.) as well as the common area spaces utilized by them, including but not limited to: the Fiber Arts and Crafts room, Hobby Shop, Art Studio, pool and fitness facilities.
  • In conjunction with Dining Services Catering & Events Department, develop, coordinate, and facilitate RVM-wide special events, recreational opportunities, and special staff functions as requested.
  • In conjunction with Human Resources, cultivate staff wellness through specialty trainings and education (body mechanics, transfers, etc.) and other wellness-focused staff engagement initiatives.  
  • Foster positive public relations both on campus and with the community at large.
  • Develop and manage yearly and monthly departmental calendars of events and programs.
  • Responsible for creating and maintenance of yearly budget for the Wellness department.
  • Remain current with all applicable laws and state regulations, and their changes.
  • Implement additional Wellness programs as requested.

 

Qualifications

This position requires a significant advanced knowledge, usually the result of a minimum of four (4) years of college with a B.A. or B.S. degree in Recreation, Fitness, Kinesiology, or related field, and/or 3-5 years’ experience in the field. Must be familiar with state regulations in regard to activities requirements. Must possess a valid Oregon driver's license, and be insurable by Manor's insurance carrier. Must have CPT.
