Overview

We are seeking an experienced human resources professional with outstanding people skills that is looking to take that next step in their career and join our team. We have a new opening for Assistant Director of Human Resources to be based out of either Saratoga Retirement Community or the Meadows of Napa Valley. Pacific Retirement Services is a non-profit senior living organization that operates both the Meadows of Napa Valley in Napa and Saratoga Retirement in Saratoga. Our Human Resources team supports both of these communities.

Your Focus & Scope:

  • Employee Relations Support.
  • Performance Review Monitoring & Support.
  • Covid leave oversight.
  • Complete reports and identify trends.
  • Monitor Relias training, safety in-service and OSHA compliance.
  • Investigations and documentation support.
  • Supervisor support with documentation.
  • Support ADA process.
  • Process invoices.
  • Use compensation/pay rate guides for hiring decision and conduct market compensation research.
  • Back up on leaves, work injuries and new hire for the HR Partners.

About the team:

As a team, you will work to support or HR Director to ensure our programs and initiatives are effective, efficient, and aligned for our nonprofit organization. In total, we employ a diverse team of roughly 285 staff members at Saratoga Retirement Community and roughly 220 staff members at the Meadows of Napa Valley. In total, the four of you will work as a team to support both communities with additional support from the central office HR team. 

 

The scope/areas of focus for your other team members are as follows:

 

  • HR Director (based out of either campus)
    • Drive community focus on retention efforts.
    • Policy and procedure updates.
    • Facilitate supervisor training, including curriculum design.
    • Create compensation administration structure.
    • Department budget oversight.
    • Develop and manage termination requests.
    • Serve on the Risk Management Committee.
    • Lead talent management meetings with directors.
  • HR Partner - Compliance (based out of The Meadows of Napa Valley)
    • Leave administration (FMLA, CFRA, PDL, Personal) for both communities.
    • Workers compensation management for both communities.
    • Covid supplemental sick pay management for both communities.
    • Track employee Covid-19 vaccines for both communities.
    • Track required certifications for both communities.
    • Process Status Changes for both communities.
    • Home community records management and employment verifications.
    • Home community new hire paperwork.
  • HR Partner - Onboarding and Benefits (based out of Saratoga Retirement Community)
    • Manage new hire onboarding process at both communities.
    • Employee support with the benefits administrator and benefit matters for both communities.
    • Performance management and merit increase support for both communities.
    • 6 month compensation review for both communities.
    • Facilitation of automated new hire onboarding check-ins and exit interviews for both communities.
    • Home community records management and employment verifications.
    • Home community new hire paperwork.

Qualifications

About You:

  • 2-3 years’ experience as a Human Resources professional with background across all disciplines: employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, compensation, recognition, benefits, employee relations, employment law, and compliance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, and/or SHRM-SCP certifications are preferred. It is expected that upon hire you will work toward professional certification(s) within a year.
  • Prior experience in retirement living, healthcare settings, and/or in the hospitality industry is preferred. 
  • Organized strategic thinker with ability to do big picture analysis.
  • Working knowledge of employment law.
  • Strong Computer skills – MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook.
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred.
