Capitol Lakes, a beautiful and vibrant Continuing Care Retirement Community located a block off the capitol square in downtown Madison, is currently seeking a full-time Maintenance Tech position to assist with promoting a culture of customer service on the Capitol Lakes campus by proactively performing maintenance, repairs, and improvements to our four buildings and equipment.   Work Schedule:  Monday-Friday, Evenings (2:30-11:00 p.m.)  Weekend rotation every other weekend. No on-call requirements.   Along with general maintenance, repairs and improvement projects within our community, the Maintenance Tech must have the ability to problem solve and work independently in the completion of work orders and as part of a team are key. Must also have the ability to work successfully with an elderly population is an important part of this and every position at Capitol Lakes.  Primary duties include (but not limited to): - Major and minor inspections and maintenance, repairs general electrical, general plumbing, HVAC, lighting, hardware, TV, locks, safety systems and pest control - Inspections, maintenance, and repairs of and to the campus lock, entry systems, doors, and related hardware - Assists with minor repairs and basic maintenance to buildings, structures, interiors and exteriors throughout the campus facility in a timely and orderly fashion - Repairs, and maintains maintenance equipment, tool and supplies, as well as provides or arranges for completion of emergency repairs to facilities and equipment as needed - Works with contractors and directs as needed for improvements, repairs, and maintenance of the fire prevention system including fire extinguishers, sprinklers systems, stand pipes and hydrants in and around the outside of the building - Responsible for or assists with basic snow and ice removal and general building and grounds safety under various weather conditions. Operation of snow removal equipment as needed Previous experience as a Maintenance Tech (or similar role) is helpful but not required.  This is a great opportunity for individuals who are looking to gain experience and grow in the Maintenance/Facilities industry.  Preferred candidates will have some experience and knowledge working with electrical, plumbing, small appliance and general building repair and familiarity in the operation, repair and maintenance of shop equipment and tools.  Successful candidates will demonstrate strong initiative, attention to detail and have excellent interpersonal skills with a committment to customer service. The HR Assistant will assist with  developing, recommending and implementing human resource policies and programs. Assists in onboarding, new hire processing, orientation, training, benefits administration, leave requests, workers’ compensation, safety, and other areas related to human resources and employee relations. Provides guidance, technical assistance and advice in these areas to management and staff. Under limited supervision performs all clerical duties for the Human Resources Department involving independent judgment, initiative and tact. May work on assignments that are sensitive in nature and confidential.   What you will do: - Take lead role in the recruitment/onboarding process working with regional recruiter to screen applicants, processing background checks and verifying references. - Conduct on-boarding/orientation for new employees. Ensure new employees become comfortable with company culture and are aware of human resources support. - Maintains current and historical (archived) human resource records. Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends. Tracks all licensing and trainings as required and conducts human resource audits as assigned or needed. - As needed, responsible for supplying employee related information (anniversaries etc.) for the publishing of an employee, benefits, and safety postings, newsletter etc. - Responsible for various correspondence such as rejection letters, benefit offer letters, FMLA offering etc. and for the upkeep of department supplies and equipment, maintain bulletin board notices etc. - Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks and participating in the local Human Resources Association. Provides information regarding the human resources profession and function to employees and interested members of the community. - Responsible for coordinating and completing special projects assigned by the HR Director and/or Executive Director.   What you will need: - Associates degree in Human Resources or a similar field preferred.  - Requires basic office administration knowledge which could be through technical training or one plus year’s experience in an office/business setting.  - Must have intermediate to advanced level of computer skills, including data entry, typing, proficiency MS Office programs (Excel, Word.)  Prior experience with ADP/EV5 (payroll) and iCIMS (ATS) is a plus. - Professional phone/interpersonal skills and knowledge of office equipment.  - Knowledge of the health care industry and personnel policies and procedures helpful.
